Free vehicle comparison

Compare two cars by registration

Put two vehicles side by side on the records that matter: age, mileage, MOT history, emissions and tax. Free, and no account needed.

Official DVLA and DVSA data. Nothing shared, no sign-up.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Enter two registrations

Type both number plates. We format them for you, and you never need an account.

  2. Step 2

    We pull the official records

DVLA and DVSA data for each car: age, recorded mileage, MOT history, emissions and tax.

  3. Step 3

    See them side by side

Each row says which car is ahead and why, in plain words, and says so when there is nothing in it.

What is compared

Compared free

  • Vehicle age and year
  • Recorded mileage, with clocking flagged
  • MOT pass history and recurring faults
  • CO2, Euro status and clean-air-zone suitability
  • Road-tax class

A full check reveals

  • Finance, stolen and write-off checks
  • Full MOT analysis and mileage verification
  • Market value range
  • Factory specification and options
  • Outstanding safety recall check

These are shown locked in the comparison, never guessed. A car can look identical on paper and hide any one of them.

Specifications only tell part of the story

Two cars can look alike on age, mileage and MOT while one carries outstanding finance, has been written off, or has had its mileage misrepresented. Run a full check on either car, or both, before you decide.

£12.99 per vehicle · Three-car shortlist from £9.33 a car.

Common questions

Can I compare two cars by registration?
Yes. Enter both registration numbers and we build a side-by-side from official DVLA and DVSA records: age, recorded mileage, MOT history, emissions and road-tax class. It is free and needs no account.
Is the comparison free?
The specification and MOT comparison is free. A full vehicle check, which adds finance, stolen and write-off checks, a valuation and the factory specification, is a paid upgrade you can run on either car or both.
What can a free comparison not tell me?
Free records cannot see hidden history. Two cars can look alike on paper while one carries outstanding finance, has been written off, or has had its mileage misrepresented. A full check is what surfaces that, which is why those rows are shown locked rather than guessed.
How many cars can I compare?
Up to four at once. More than that is hard to read on a phone, and a shortlist is usually two or three cars anyway.
Where does the data come from?
The DVLA vehicle register and the DVSA MOT history service, the same official sources behind the individual checks. Records reflect what those registers held at the time of the comparison.
