Prices come from the government fuel price scheme, which participating retailers submit to, and are matched to each forecourt. We show the cheapest first, work out the local average, and estimate how much you could save against it.
Retailers update their prices through the scheme when they change them on the forecourt, and we refresh our copy throughout the day. Each price carries the time the retailer last changed it, not the time we fetched it, so you can see how current it really is. A price marked older is one the retailer has not changed recently, which usually means it is stable rather than wrong.
A forecourt can change its price at any time, and there is a short delay between a change on the pump and it reaching the scheme. Treat every price here as a very recent guide rather than a guarantee, especially if it was last updated some time ago. It is always worth checking the totem sign when you pull in.
Unleaded (E10) is the standard petrol at almost every forecourt; super unleaded (E5) is a pricier premium grade. Diesel (B7) usually sits a few pence above or below unleaded depending on wholesale costs and the time of year. Premium diesel costs more again for its additives. Choose the exact grade your car takes, because comparing the wrong grade is the easiest way to misjudge a saving.
The cheapest forecourt is not always the best value once you factor in the detour to reach it: a saving of a few pence a litre is easily wiped out by the fuel used getting there. Supermarket forecourts are often cheaper but can be busier, and motorway services are almost always dearer. Use the tank-size estimate to see the saving on a full fill, not just per litre, and sort by distance if convenience matters more than a marginal price difference.
