Where our data comes from, how fresh it is, and what a free check gives you versus a full report.
- Where does your vehicle data come from?
- The free record (MOT history, mileage, tax and vehicle details) comes from the DVLA and DVSA, the official government sources. The paid markers such as finance, stolen and write-off come from the relevant industry registers. We set out every source on our data sources page.
- What is included in a free check versus a full check?
- The free check covers the public record: MOT history, mileage timeline, tax status and DVLA vehicle details. The full check adds the data that is not public, namely finance, stolen and insurance write-off markers, plus a valuation. Our pricing page lists exactly what each tier includes.
- Is your MOT and tax data up to date?
- Yes. MOT and tax status are fetched live from the DVLA and DVSA the moment you run a check, never served from a stale copy, so what you see is what the official record holds right then. That is why the same registration can show a new result the day after a test or a tax renewal.
- How accurate is the information?
- It is as accurate as the official registers it is drawn from, reported without embellishment. We show what the DVLA, DVSA and industry records hold at the time of the check, and say plainly when something could not be retrieved. We do not invent a score or a verdict the data does not support; see our data sources.
- Do you store or share my searches?
- We do not sell your searches or show the specific registrations people look up. Aggregate, non-identifying figures may inform things like popular-model pages, but a plate you check is not published. How we handle data is set out in full in our privacy policy.
